Michael's additions

10. Red Herring.
Unlike the typical clues in the story that exist to help you solve the mysterty, these "anti clues" are there to trick you. By making you suspect the wrong party for all the right reasons, the eventual denouncement will be all the more shocking. What would be the point of a detective story where you already knew who did it? Red herrings usually show up on the TV show House. In the show, a patient will suffer from some rare disease, we are led to believe one thing because the symptoms match the earlier diagnosis, but then, it turns out that it just looks like that disease.

11.Eureka moment
Well, thats what I call it. It is when the detective realizes the one over looked clue. It usually comes to him when someone says something to him that reminds him of the case. The person saying it to him has no idea that they just helped since the detective just raises his eye brows and widens his eyes and rushes off. This usually follows use of the red herring, since at that point the detective would be running out of ideas. The denouncement will come after since the detective has all the clues now.
