Poe Vs. Abramov
Some mystery genre elements found in both Edgar Allen Poe’s The Murders in Rue Morgue and Outline A Detective Story by Florentina Abramov are there usage of having unsuspecting detectives. As seen with Abramov’s protagonist Yuval and Poe’s Dupin. Both are ordinary men, but find it in themselves to be detectives. The elements that seem to be most deviated from the mystery genre is the setting of the stories. Instead of having a location that’s placed in a suburban town the actual crime and place deal with other external circumstances, such as the stealing of the bible, a religious object.
