1. Choose a time period and locale: 1980s, in Tel Aviv, Israel. In the conservative Temple on Levi St called Beit Levi aka The House of Levi.
2. Develop a detective: Yuval ha Yehudi aka Yuval the Jew. Is a 14 year old boy, who spends his free time at the temple cleaning and helping the rabbis.
3. Outline the crime: Someone stole the holy Torah, and no one knows a thing. It was last seen on the end of Sabbath, during prayer time. Once everyone headed home, and closed the temple, the thieves probably went into action. Sunday morning, when everyone returned it was gone.
4. Include some clues: The clues that were found were… cigarette buds (no one smokes in side the temple.) Urine in the toilet seat, meaning someone had no respect to even FLUSH! Gum wrapper. An empty beer bottle, a USED condom, and one single strand of hair: blonde.
5. Identify the MMO:
Motive: The trill of stealing from a holy house of god and and also to make some money. They can sell the Torah for thousands of dollars.
Method: Two young teenagers in need of a thrill got together and went about stealing from the temple. They hid in the bathrooms, and then when it closed down they went for it.
Opportunity: The young teenager has the opportunity because he went to that temple every weekend. He was from a good religious family and wanted to get on the “wild side.”
6. Identify the alibis of the suspects:
The Rabbi: Went home to be with his wife.
The cleaning crew: went to their night jobs at the local restaurant as dish washers.
The neighborhood gang: Were all at a bar getting wasted.
The two young teenagers: were home alone.
7. Provide a climax: When the two young teenagers attempted to sell the torah, they instead got jumped and beaten up by those in the black market. They got home all beaten up, bloody, and were rushed to the hospital. The boy and girl broke down and told the police what happened.
8. Write your denouement:
What: The Torah was stolen
When: Saturday night at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Who: Shy Gilat and Sevan Chai. 17 year old teenagers who live in the neighborhood.
Where: from Beit Levi.
Why: They wanted excitement in their lives and then decide they can sell it to get rid of the evidence.
9. Summarize with a short conclusion. Yuval had Yehudi, being as tiny as he is, snuck around and collected his evidence, when he saw the two teenagers beaten up he went to investiage. That is when he over heard them tell their story. He popped up and told them they should go to the hosptial. At that that he informed the police, who carefully, drew the story out of the two teenagers. Luckily, the Torah was retrieved and the two teenagers were put on 5 years probation, and had to do one year of community service. They also spent 30 days in juvenile detention after being rehabilitated in the hospital. The sellers from the black market were locked up for 30 years in jail, when all their stolen good were retrieved.

I think this conclusion really works for the detective story genre because it is so neat and tidy. In my conclusion I tried to convey the future cases forecast that detective stories often end with, but this writer's ideas made me realize that I left out a key component: punishment for the criminal. I really like this idea. It is working well because it is a very clear and precise outline with lots of evidence, clues, and a good summary.
