Larson and the Pill Bust.

1. The time period and locale I have chosen for my detective story is a present day New York City hospital.
2. The detective is a 33 year old women. She is tall and slender, with short brown hair. Everyone thinks that she’s a joke, not only for the fact that she’s a women but her father was one of the greatest detectives that ever lived so people think that’s the only reason why she has this job. Her name is Becca Larson, and she’s here to make a name for herself, and if she can solve this case she will have no problem doing so.
3. The crime takes place in a hospital called South Shore Hospital. The call was made to the squad house at 4:05 AM. No detectives wanted to take the case because at first glance it looked like a bore, no one thought anything big would come out of it. The case that was called in was about someone breaking into the medicine closet and stealing over 1,000 prescription pills. The pills that were stolen were pills that were known to be sold on the street for getting high. Larson jumped on the opportunity to take the case and headed down to the hospital to look for some clues.
4. Larson headed down to the scene and right off the bat noticed many things that made it seem and though it was an inside job. She noticed that the glass from the door was broken form the inside out. She saw the glass laying on the other side of the door, she then continued around the crime scene and noticed a piece of ripped clothing that seemed to look like a piece of a lab coat. Larson kept her mouth shut and took pictures of everything that she observed and gathered up the evidence. She than went to the nurses desk and asked for a list of names who were working the previous night.
5. Larson began to go threw the list she not only looked for who was working, but also for who had the keys to the closet. She went looking for this because she saw tat the glass was broken from the inside of the door, so she knew that whoever broke in had access to the closet. Only two names matched up Mike Deflippa and Jack Canary. She than started to look for some motive and began to uncover that Dr. Deflippa has a mother was is an addict, and also that Dr. Canary seems to travel to Atlantic City a lot showing that he has a gambling problem. She knew that method was that they went to work that day and tried to stage the incident to make it look like it was a break in, but Larson was smarter than that. And the both had an opportunity since they both left work only a couple of hours before the break in, but some people said they saw tem lingering around the hospital.
6. After talking to both the suspects they seemed to both have alibis. Dr. Deflippa said that he had stayed later than usual that night and was in the hospital during the break in but he was with patients the whole time, after checking with the patients his alibis proved correct. But he only needed about 10 minutes to steal the pills. Dr. Canary said he went straight home after work and went to sleep.
7. Larson then started to feel as though she was right back to the beginning of the investigation, until out of no where she realized something. Dr. Canary lived in Queens and she could check his Ezpass login to see what time he left the city. After looking she realized that he didn’t leave the City until 3:32 when he told her he had left at 1:30. She went to go to his house to question him, but when he saw her he began to run. She chased him for about 10 blocks until she tackled him to the ground. She threw the cuffs on him and brought him to the station.
8. After hours of questioning down at the station Dr. Canary finally broke. He admitted that it was him that stole the pills. He had to do it because he was in a huge debt from gambling, he was selling the pills to one of the biggest dealers in New York in order to pay off his debt.
9. This investigation really made a name for Larson. She killed two birds with one stone. She figured out who stole the pills and also brought down the biggest drug dealer in New York. Larson went home later that night laid in bed and couldn’t help but smile when she thought of her next mission.
