"Spontaneous Consent" Through Naivety

An example of how the dominant culture may obtain “spontaneous consent” is through manipulating the middle and/or lower classes to believe they have their best interest at heart. This is seen in every United States political debate, whether it’s about universal healthcare, welfare or social security, the public believes whatever they are told. The idea that something like universal healthcare can be bad is like saying smoking cigarettes will cure a cold, but because of what “expert economists” say, it’ll be along ways away before we’ll establish anything even regarding universal healthcare.

This isn’t because Americans (subjected groups) are imbeciles but rather naïve in their belief that the government that represents them wouldn’t want to intentionally cause harm or cheat them. But believe it or not at the end of the day there are those who benefit from the misfortunes of others and there not a drug dealer or gangster, there most likely wearing a suit and own stocks in tobacco and the NAACP.
