I never really fully understood the Marxist thinking. I knew of communism, in the aspect of what my mother told me while she lived in the Soviet Union. I think reading (and having people explain to me in plain English) the Marxist ideology, I found a new understanding. I feel that even with a Marxist lifestyle, there would still be an exceptional amount of flaws in society. Now, on the hand if we are just speaking about Marxist criticism—I think that it is very interesting that one can look at writings and pin point different economic variations that fall within what Marxist speak about- and reflect on it. I think that, for the most part, everything one writes about will have a Marxist point of view because in reality writing (and fiction in general) will always have to do with loss. And to me, Marxism is all about attempting to lessen the idea of loss, but rather create equality.
In writing this paper, I felt extremely agitated. I am not one that typically struggles to write papers, but I felt that I did not master in any way the Marxist analysis process to go about criticizing the book I choose. So, at last minute I decided to change my book and my topic and do a genre study on the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (on of my favorite writers.) I enjoying analyzing the book in that sense because as I wrote the paper I felt that I was discovering various things about her and the story.
