Before coming into these readings about Marxist philopshy I knew some things but not enough to hold a very intelligent conversation about it but now I think I would be able to at least be able to have some foundation in learning the more basic principles of it. Coming away from the readings though I would have to say that my feelings and out look on it are still the same. I still don't think it would work in certain situtaions and I still feel that revolutions hardly pan out and in today's culture I find it almost impossible for it to succeed. Other then that I was actually shocked at the sub culture these views have on the popular culture. The Marxist outlook on different works, I def find very intresting and enjoy looking at works like that. But I also think it can be taken to an extreme if you are not careful about it. Somethings are there but I also feel that people want to see something so they make it there. But that can be in almost anything you look at.
What I like about reading and studying a Marx point of view is just the fact if seeing if you can look at something from a different angle, it's being able to see if you are opended minded enough to just see if it could be true and then you judge for yourself what you think is correct. And I like that part about learning something new, especially when it comes to looking at our culture from outside the box.
Writing the paper for some reason, I found it very difficult. Even though I was very intrested in the topic, I just felt like there was so much information I didn't know how to organize and explain myself correctly. I hope I tied Chandler's views in with my views but it never comes out as you expect it to. I just tried showing how genres can hurt the viewer more then the movie. That expecting something because it is a comedy and not because it is just a movie. I don't know if it was shown but I tried. I probably came up short, but wheres the shock in that?
