India Vs. England

The East India Company (1693), a British trading post in India had been the foundation for British colonization of the country. By 1848, the trading company had reached such heights that it began to swallow up princes and with them land. In a few years, the company had an army of 200,000 in India as well as a plethora of goods to import and export. Until the British left do to the efforts of Mahatma Ghandi ranging from the 1920s through to the 1930’s, had British power diminished leaving a newly independent country to fend for itself. This had led to the country incorporating the British democratic system as well as much of its culture, such as soccer and cricket. In establishing a colony and later being independent of the mother country, still creates an altered state of identity.
